We like making cups. We also like finding ways for them to do a little more.
This year, that meant putting our cups to good use for Forest & Bird’s Bird of the Year campaign and getting behind one of Aotearoa’s more entertaining residents: the Weka.
The Weka is a scrappy little flightless bird found only in New Zealand, and one we’ve had a soft spot for for a while. It even inspired one of our original Acme colours.
We donated 50% of sales from our Weka collection to Forest & Bird, with 100% of sales from our custom Weka Union Mug also going to the cause. It sold out in just eight days, and thanks to everyone who got behind the campaign, we raised $8,695.42 to support Forest & Bird’s work protecting native birds and wild places.
We loved seeing the campaign travel beyond New Zealand, too. Because while the Weka is uniquely ours, the bigger story isn’t. Wild places matter wherever you live, and native species and the habitats they depend on are under pressure all over the world.
