Our Classics, Tasters, and Unions make up the hardworking heart of the Acme cup range. Made from high-temperature fired porcelain and designed for the pace of busy cafés and restaurants, they’re durable, easy to clean, and built for high rotation use. Thick walls help keep coffee hotter for longer, while our signature handle feels good in the hand from first coffee to last call.
Washing:
Dishwasher safe or clean by hand in hot soapy water.
Storage:
Stackable. Store clean.
Trouble Shooting:
If coffee stains appear in your cup, simply soak in water with an espresso cleaner. The stains should disappear completely. We do not recommend using abrasive cleaners as this can scratch the glaze and make staining worse.
Microwave and oven use:
Acme products weren’t designed for oven or microwave use, so best to keep them out of there. Like most ceramics, they’re happiest when temperatures change gradually. Sudden swings from very cold to very hot (or the other way around) can cause thermal shock, which is a scientific way of saying your cup may have a very bad day.
Therefore, please avoid:
- microwaving our products straight from the fridge
- placing very hot products onto very cold surfaces
- microwaving empty cups, bowls or plates
- heating above 160°C
Acme products are designed for longevity, but like all ceramics, they can develop chips or cracks over time. If an item becomes chipped or structurally damaged, it’s best to remove it from circulation, as it may no longer be safe to use. Cracks can harbour moisture and bacteria that are difficult to clean, and chips may create sharp edges.
Our more modern cups and mugs come from the Roman, Bobby, Bibby, and Collective ranges. A collection of refined, lightweight pieces made from high-fired porcelain for both café and home use. Designed with a thinner profile and a more refined drinking experience in mind, these cups and mugs still work hard day in, day out. Finished with our signature Acme handle, they balance elegance with the durability needed for everyday coffee rituals.
Washing:
Dishwasher safe, or happy being washed by hand in hot soapy water.
Because these cups have a finer, thinner profile than our Classic range, they’re best handled with a little extra care in busy commercial settings. Like most refined things, they don’t love being knocked around.
Storage:
Avoid stacking too high. Store clean.
Trouble Shooting:
If coffee or tea stains appear, simply soak in water with an espresso cleaner. The stains should disappear completely. We do not recommend using abrasive cleaners as this can scratch the glaze and make staining worse.

This range of handleless cups and tumblers is made from high-fired porcelain, with a smooth matte exterior and glazed interior. Refined in the hand, durable enough for everyday use.

Dishwasher safe, or wash by hand in hot soapy water. Like good glassware, the Tajimi range is best treated with a little extra care.

Trouble Shooting:
If stains appear on the un-glazed matte surface of the exterior, spot clean with detergent and a soft cloth. Stubborn stains can be scrubbed with a brush using a paste made of baking soda and water.

Our cutlery is available in brushed and polished finishes, made from hardened 302 stainless steel for durability, balance, and a satisfyingly weighty feel in the hand. Designed for real-life use, it’s equally at home in busy commercial settings or around the dinner table.
Our knives are made from 420 stainless steel with added carbon steel for extra strength, meaning they stay sturdy, sharp, and importantly, not prone to bending under pressure.
Washing:
- Wash by hand in hot soapy water or in a dishwasher.
- As with all stainless steel cutlery, we recommend drying pieces soon after washing to help avoid water marks or the occasional rust spot appearing.
- It’s also best not to leave cutlery sitting dirty for long periods of time, as acids from food and mineral salts in water can eventually cause staining or pitting over time.
- Avoid using abrasive pads or cream cleansers.
Storage:
Store clean cutlery in a damp-free environment separate from other metals such as Aluminium (which could cause corrosion) for best results.
Trouble shooting:
If rust spots do appear on your knives, just mix a little baking soda with water to make a paste, rub the paste gently onto the stainless steel with a soft cloth. Rinse and dry right away with a tea towel or soft cloth. Alternatively, use a cleaner that contains the ingredient 'oxalic acid'.
All our ceramics are hand-finished and naturally unique. Porcelain shifts and settles during firing, so small differences in size, glaze, colour, and finish are all part of the process and something we celebrate.
Every item is carefully checked to meet our quality standards before leaving the factory. But if something doesn’t seem right, or your Acme piece hasn’t lived up to expectations, we’re always happy to have a chat.
Just send a photo of the issue along with a brief explanation to hello@acmecups.com and our team will take a look.
We’re happy to replace any items deemed faulty or affected by a manufacturing defect. Normal wear from use, staining, marking, or damage caused by thermal shock unfortunately isn’t covered under warranty.
We expect your Acme pieces to last a very long time with proper care. When the time comes to retire it, we encourage you to donate it where it can be reused, or, if it’s no longer suitable for use, take cutlery to a metal recycler. Scrap stainless steel can be melted down, reprocessed, and given a new life in other products.
Retired porcelain pieces don’t have to lose their story either. With a little care, they can be put back together using epoxy glue or through Kintsugi, the traditional art of restoring ceramics with lacquer and gold. They can also be repurposed as decorative objects like trinket dishes or small planters. Even broken fragments can be reused for plant drainage, jewellery, or donated to local mosaic studios to be transformed into new works.
As part of our commitment to keeping good tableware in circulation for as long as possible, we’re also trialling a give-back programme in partnership with charities and non-profits. Depending on the circumstance, we may be able to take back pre-loved Acme pieces in good condition, give them a second life, and offer a discount on new purchases as a small celebration of keeping cups out of landfill.
If you’re in NZ and have Acme tableware without chips, cracks, or damage that’s ready for a new home, you can also email us at hello@acmecups.com to start the conversation.
All Acme products are tested at the factory and meet European food safety standards. Trace amounts of lead can occur naturally in raw materials, and our tableware may contain minute levels, but these are well below the strict limits set by EU regulations and are considered completely food safe. All products comply with European Council Directive 84/500/EEC and Commission Directive2005/31/EC, which regulate the allowable levels of leachable lead and cadmium from ceramic products intended for food use.
Our stainless steel cutlery is also fully compliant, meeting the Council of Europe Resolution CM/Res (2020) 9 and the EDQM Technical Guide on Metals and Alloys used in Food Contact Materials and Articles (2024, 2nd Edition), which set limits on metal migration.
In short, everything is tested, compliant, and designed to be safely used every day.
